About the position

The Restaurant Supervisor at The Surfing Fox, located in The Pierside Hotel, is responsible for assisting the Restaurant Manager in all phases of restaurant operations. This role includes overseeing the restaurant's daily activities, ensuring service standards are met, and maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction. The position requires a proactive approach to managing staff and operations in the absence of the manager, fostering a creative and independent work environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor servers, runners, and other restaurant associates to ensure adherence to service standards and SOPs.
• Supervise guest service and respond to signals from guests in need of assistance.
• Assist the manager in establishing and monitoring side-work duty completion.
• Maintain the bank according to SOP, ensuring it is balanced and secure at all times.
• Read daily communication sheets from the previous shift and prepare one for the following shift.
• Check for personnel call-offs and ensure proper floor coverage.
• Inspect the restaurant for cleanliness and setup, including service stands and aisle areas.
• Ensure tables are clean and properly set up for guests.
• Communicate daily with the restaurant manager regarding special events and house counts.
• Assist restaurant managers in conducting menu classes and taste panels.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience in a related position.
• Advanced knowledge of food service principles and practices.
• Excellent oral communication skills for interacting with guests and staff.
• Strong comprehension skills for assisting with guest and associate matters.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Knowledge of California cuisine and local flavors.
