About the position

As a Restructuring Associate at Alvarez & Marsal, you will play a crucial role in assisting underperforming businesses through their restructuring processes. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside industry experts and contribute to significant projects that impact well-known organizations. You will be involved in various aspects of restructuring, including strategy development, cash management, and business plan implementation, while leveraging your analytical skills and financial knowledge to drive positive change.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with companies to navigate their restructuring processes.
  • Advise on strategy, cash conservation, liquidity management, and business plan development.
  • Build and manage 13-week cash flow forecasts.
  • Conduct liquidation analysis to assess the feasibility of Plans of Reorganization.
  • Collaborate with clients to create long-term business plans and manage performance.
  • Implement cash conservation strategies and controls.
  • Develop pre-bankruptcy plans and assist with bankruptcy case administration.
  • Support marketing initiatives by assisting with pitch preparation.
  • Lead work streams within projects and mentor junior resources.
  • Build consultative relationships with clients to understand their processes and financial positions.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of work experience in corporate restructuring, investment or commercial banking, audit, transaction advisory, or consulting with a financial focus.
  • BA/BS degree and/or MBA/MS in Accounting, Finance, or related analytical fields.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Word.
  • Professional certifications such as CTP, CIRA, CPA, or CFA preferred.
  • Understanding of Chapter 11 proceedings.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including the ability to build cash flow forecasts and financial models with limited oversight.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct restructuring experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated progress toward professional certifications.
