RETAIL A+ COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

About the position

The Retail A+ Computer Technician at Micro Center is responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues for customers, providing technical support, and ensuring customer satisfaction through consultative selling. This role emphasizes the importance of technical knowledge, customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify, diagnose, and document hardware failure or software problems on various computers or computer-related equipment.
• Provide technical explanations and problem analysis to customers, recommending complete solutions through consultative selling.
• Recommend components/configurations and assemble customized computer systems for customers.
• Communicate timely and accurately with customers regarding their service events via face-to-face, telephone, text, and email.
• Utilize technical manuals and support resources while maintaining appropriate technical certifications and staying updated on retail products and technologies.
• Maintain a cash till, handle customer transactions, and ensure a clean work area and accurate inventory tracking.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent with one year of related computer service repair or technical customer service experience strongly preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or Apple ACMT and ACiT certifications, or the ability to be certified within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in retail technology sales or customer service.
• Familiarity with a variety of computer hardware and software products.
