About the position

As the Retail Asset Protection Manager at the New York American Girl Store, you will lead the asset protection team to ensure the safety of all guests and employees. This role is crucial in implementing and executing safety programs and initiatives that protect the organization’s physical property, assets, and personnel from theft, damage, and unlawful activities. You will work closely with store leaders and both internal and external partners to maintain secure day-to-day operations. Reporting to the North America Security Director, you will be part of the store leadership team, providing guidance and leadership to the Asset Protection team members at assigned locations. Your responsibilities will include enforcing Mattel's Global Security Department Best Practices and adhering to the US Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program recommendations. You will be tasked with preventing the loss of company assets by identifying suspicious activities and coordinating the work of Asset Protection employees in performing security-related tasks as outlined in the Contingency Operations and S.O.P. manuals. Additionally, you will manage the administration of the department, which includes staffing, scheduling, payroll, employee performance, training, and development. You will also ensure that the Incident Management Program is implemented and followed, conduct incident investigations, audits, and inspections, and compile reporting. Driving awareness and compliance of all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) initiatives will be part of your role, as well as responding to fire and first aid emergencies. You will develop and update processes and SOPs as needed and may participate or lead additional projects as assigned, supporting AG retail boutique locations. This is an onsite position and does not qualify for hybrid or remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the asset protection team at the New York American Girl Store.

  • Protect the organization's physical property, assets, and personnel from theft, damage, and unlawful activities.
  • Prevent the loss of company assets by identifying suspicious activities.
  • Coordinate the work of Asset Protection employees in performing security and related tasks.
  • Manage department administration including staffing, scheduling, payroll, and employee performance.
  • Ensure the Incident Management Program is implemented and followed.
  • Conduct incident investigations, audits, and inspections, and compile reporting.
  • Drive awareness and compliance of all EH&S initiatives.
  • Respond to fire and first aid emergencies and facilitate EHSS processes.
  • Develop and update processes and SOPs as needed.
  • Participate or lead additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of security personnel in a retail environment required.
  • Holds required state security license or can obtain required state security license.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license.
  • Must be certified in First Aid, CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens, or have the ability to obtain certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite, IBM based systems, CCTV programs, and access control systems.
  • Knowledge of physical security best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external partners.
  • Understanding of state specific licensing, training, uniform and record retention requirements.
  • Ability to source and coordinate with vendors and site business partners.
