About the position

The Retail Assistant Manager at Goodwill Industries of Mississippi is responsible for overseeing daily retail operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, and managing store activities in the absence of the Retail Store Manager. This role involves training and developing staff, achieving sales quotas, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, all while aligning with the organization's mission to transform lives through meaningful work.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales quota for the store by maximizing production and sales from store operations.
  • Manage all store activities in the absence of the Retail Store Manager to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise production functions such as receiving donations, sorting merchandise, and pricing items.
  • Attend loss prevention and safety meetings, promoting a safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Ensure effective placement of merchandise on the sales floor and provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle cash register functions and ensure accurate banking procedures are performed.
  • Assist in personnel functions including record keeping, scheduling, payroll management, and training.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness in sales and production areas.
  • Accurately report money, sales, and production records in a timely manner.
  • Enforce company policies and maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, or at least one year of management experience in food services, manufacturing, production, or retail.
  • National Retail Federation (NRF) Certification within one year of job acceptance.
  • Basic judgment skills to determine merchandise/donation value.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced math skills, including basic accounting and cash control procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Open availability for scheduling flexibility.
  • Ability to transfer to other working locations as directed by management.
