About the position

The Retail Store Assistant Manager at Yankee Candle is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in leading a team to achieve sales and operational goals while providing exceptional guest service. This part-time role requires a passion for home décor and fragrance, along with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in leading a team of Second Assistant Managers and Sales Associates.
  • Maintain service and operational standards in the store.
  • Supervise, coach, and train staff to enhance performance.
  • Ensure adequate staffing through recruiting and networking efforts.
  • Oversee visual merchandising and operational standards.
  • Provide superior guest service and engagement.
  • Act as Manager on Duty for various shifts, directing team members on daily tasks.
  • Open and close the store regularly, ensuring safety and security for guests and staff.
  • Manage store inventory control and processing.
  • Prepare cash reports and merchandise orders as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years' demonstrated supervisory/management experience in a retail sales environment or similar customer service environment.
  • Previous experience in a retail sales environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, and train others in a retail setting.
