About the position

As a Retail Assistant Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and enhancing customer service within the store. You will be responsible for inventory management, supervising staff, merchandising, and ensuring smooth operations at the point of sale. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to maintain a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Open and/or close the store each day.
  • Reconcile cash drawers and daily worksheets as needed.
  • Backup the Store Manager and the Warehouse Assistant Manager in difficult situations and provide input in staff counseling sessions if needed.
  • Manage staff and store alongside the Warehouse Assistant Manager in the Store Manager's absence.
  • Enforce and help staff adhere to ReStore policies.
  • Backup and oversee cashiers.
  • Maintain good working relations with donors and customers.
  • Receive donations, process, clean, test, and size all merchandise before placing on the sales floor.
  • Determine if items are in good sellable condition or work properly.
  • Train staff in pricing items and assist in looking up item prices.
  • Oversee various program staff members and help them be efficient and consistent in their duties.
  • Maintain a clean and well-displayed ReStore and receiving area.
  • Work with and direct volunteers.
  • Maintain supplies and tools, keeping all areas clean and organized.
  • Keep all required records.
  • Effectively answer texts and phone calls concerning inventory.
  • Assist with marketing inventory on social media accounts.
  • Be available to help in any area of the store as needed.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of management experience preferred.
  • Retail experience.
  • Ability to operate with integrity in all areas.
  • Willingness to follow all store policies.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to accept and follow instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work both alone and with others.
  • Ability to direct employees.
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of people.
  • Tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and be on your feet for the majority of the day.
