About the position

The Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot, Inc. plays a pivotal role in driving total sales and service growth within our stores. This position is essential in fostering a customer-centric environment, enhancing visual and merchandising standards, and ensuring unparalleled client satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will lead a vibrant sales culture, engage with the local community, and uphold the Office Depot values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and involves key responsibilities such as opening and closing the store as a Key Carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the management team to drive memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure the execution of Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store.
  • Foster a sales-focused environment through assisting with the training and development of associates.
  • Act as a role model for delivering exceptional customer service and product expertise.
  • Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures and visual merchandising standards.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
  • Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance.
  • Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services associates.
  • Facilitate training sessions on the business model and holistic service offering for clients/customers.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.
  • Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including activation and deactivation of the store's alarm system, cash handling, and daily store balancing.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's preferred in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related fields.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in related field (Retail, sales, customer facing, and/or supervisory experience preferred).
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use technology for information access.
  • Experience with Logistics and Freight.
  • Advanced selling skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and coach others in a professional environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and execute detailed instructions in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptability to a changing environment and focus on driving results.
