About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at Duluth Trading Company plays a crucial role in driving sales and ensuring exceptional customer service. This position involves leading the store team to achieve financial goals, maintaining high standards of merchandise presentation, and fostering a customer-centric environment. The Assistant Store Manager also collaborates with the Store Manager on staffing, training, and operational excellence, while embodying the company's values and commitment to integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and profitability by achieving financial goals.
  • Lead KPI initiatives through Associate training and development.
  • Maintain merchandise presentation according to Visual Merchandising standards.
  • Demonstrate high levels of customer engagement and set expectations for the team.
  • Develop familiarity with the Duluth brand and product knowledge to provide friendly service.
  • Partner with Store Manager on staffing levels and floor coverage.
  • Ensure accurate recording of customer profile information.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards for the sales floor and stockroom.
  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and lead employees in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Provide clear and consistent feedback to employees.
  • Assist in ensuring all Human Resource protocols are completed timely.
  • Identify problems and opportunities to discuss with Store Manager.
  • Lead team in handling merchandise receipts and transfers accurately.
  • Execute and train on cash handling and reporting functions.
  • Ensure store security and respond to alarms as directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of retail experience with at least one year in management.
  • Retail Management experience preferred; specialty retail leadership is a plus.
  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Goal-oriented and results-driven with high integrity and trust.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and function as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in specialty retail leadership.
  • Proficiency in using common tools such as hammer, screwdriver, and wrench.
