About the position
The Retail Associate position at SSA Group involves providing exceptional customer service in a retail environment, specifically within cultural attractions such as zoos and aquariums. The role focuses on fulfilling guest needs, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and supporting sales through effective merchandising and promotional efforts. The Retail Associate will work closely with the retail leadership and warehouse teams to ensure inventory is managed efficiently and customer feedback is communicated effectively.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill guest's needs quickly and efficiently.
- Inform retail leadership when item quantities are low or special requests arise.
- Work with the warehouse team to pull and fill items as necessary.
- Relay relevant customer comments to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Uphold company policies and procedures.
- Perform the steps of SSA EXTRA Guest Service to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client.
- Check and stock supplies in the counter area, floor display, and cabinets neatly and accurately.
- Clean tables, chairs, and equipment as needed.
- Keep the counter and floor in the work area clean and free of debris.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Merchandise products to maximize sales.
- Increase sales through promotional items or suggestive selling.
- Support sustainability and conservation efforts within the unit.
- Engage in community efforts through hiring and engagement activities.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and work independently.
- Demonstrated flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer knowledge, including POS systems and Excel.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle boxes weighing 10-35 lbs.
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience in retail is preferred but not required.
- Education backgrounds of all types are eligible.
