About the position

The Retail Bank Operations Manager (ROM) is responsible for ensuring operational integrity and risk mitigation across various segments of the Retail Bank, including Branch Banking, Small Business Banking, and Private/Wealth segments. This role involves overseeing compliance with policies and regulations, improving operational efficiency, and leading initiatives to enhance the bank's operations. The ROM acts as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to ensure adherence to established standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Implements strategies that drive operational integrity and risk mitigation within Branch Banking, Small Business Banking, and Private/Wealth segments.
  • Leads or participates as a subject matter expert in various Retail Bank Operations projects.
  • Evaluates operations control process effectiveness through monitoring, site visits, and certifications.
  • Partners with line of business leadership to remediate risk and compliance issues identified by reviews and testing.
  • Provides transaction approvals, exceptions, and variances to established policy or procedures.
  • Oversees security/control functions related to robberies, fraud, and operating losses.
  • Coordinates and implements optimization activities for Branch Banking.
  • Performs operational activities/testing/monitoring such as cash audits and recordkeeping.
  • Ensures appropriate utilization of technology systems for operational efficiency.
  • Plans and facilitates presentations for operational risk, sales, compliance, and service programs.
  • Reports results of monitoring and testing to division management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of banking experience required; 7+ years preferred.
  • 10+ years of banking experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of retail banking operations experience required.
  • Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) is preferred.
  • De Novo branch implementation and process improvement experience is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.
