About the position

MERS Goodwill is seeking a Retail Cashier for their OFallon Store team. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service, handling cash transactions, and maintaining store cleanliness. The ideal candidate will support the mission of changing lives through work and embody the organization's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge customers as they enter the store and assist them on the sales floor.
  • Operate the store cash register, handling cash and credit card transactions, and balancing the register.
  • Stock, straighten, and maintain the cleanliness of the store area.
  • Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
  • Uphold store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with team members and leadership.
  • Utilize safe work practices and contribute to a hazard-free workplace.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Safeguard agency assets from harm, damage, or theft, and report any incidents.
  • Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • No degree is required, but a High School Diploma/GED is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with co-workers, customers, and management.
  • Organizational skills and ability to interact with a diverse work population.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
