About the position

As a Retail Cosmetics Sales Associate at Macy's, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the beauty experience for our customers. Your primary responsibility will be to support the beauty needs of our clientele, driving sales through exceptional customer service and product knowledge. You will act as both a product educator and a beauty enthusiast, specializing in making customers feel beautiful and confident. Building a strong client base and nurturing relationships will be key to meeting your sales goals. You will embrace innovation by leveraging new selling ideas and will be comfortable communicating with customers both virtually and via phone. Your role will involve providing personalized customer consultations, which may include applying makeup and demonstrating products. In this position, you will acknowledge customers in a friendly and helpful manner, utilizing your product knowledge to provide expert advice tailored to each customer's desires and preferences. You will introduce customers to various beauty products, building rapport to uncover their undiscovered needs. Demonstrating the use of beauty products through actual application will be a significant part of your responsibilities. You will also ensure that the presentation, organization, storage, and replenishment of stock are maintained to the highest standards. Utilizing Macy's clientele program, you will build relationships with customers, meet sales goals, share promotions and product launches, and engage customers in our rewards program. Participation in pre-selling and sales-driving events will be essential to maximize sales and achieve personal sales targets. Staying current on Macy's beauty product knowledge and trends is crucial, and you will be expected to remain up to date with all training through Macy's educational resources, including attending vendor trainings and virtual sessions as requested. Additionally, you will merchandise new receipts, process damages, and manage testers and select merchandise for return to vendors. Proficiency in point of sale technology and applications will assist you in selling and fulfilling customer orders, while adherence to hygiene standards and asset protection control will be mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge customers in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Leverage product knowledge to provide expert advice to each customer based on their desires, features, and preferences
  • Introduce customers to beauty products and build a rapport to identify undiscovered needs
  • Explain and demonstrate the use of all beauty products through actual application on the customer
  • Ensure proper presentation, organization, storing and replenishment of stock
  • Use our clientele program to build relationships with customers, meet sales goals, share promotions and product launches, and engage customers in our rewards program
  • Participate in pre-selling and sales-driving events to maximize sales and reach personal sales goals
  • Self-motivated to stay current on Macy's beauty product knowledge and beauty trends
  • Remain up to date with all training through Macy's educational resources, including attending Vendor trainings and virtual trainings as requested
  • Merchandise new receipts, process damages, testers and select merchandise to return to vendors
  • Use point of sale technology and applications to assist in selling and fulfilling of customer orders
  • Adhere to hygiene standards and asset protection control and compliance procedures

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of customer service or selling experience required
  • Previous cosmetic or fragrance sales experience a plus
