About the position

The Retail Customer Service Specialist at DICK'S Sporting Goods plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to customers while supporting the store's operational standards. This position involves leading by example, fostering a positive team environment, and ensuring that all brand standards are met. The Specialist is responsible for training new teammates, maintaining merchandising standards, and creating an inclusive atmosphere for both customers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service and support to all athletes.
• Lead by example and provide direction to teammates in the store.
• Assist in building and hiring a strong team by participating in interviews and department tours.
• Plan and organize store operations 30 days in advance with the guidance of management.
• Ensure brand standards are met through effective delegation and execution of daily tasks.
• Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards, including inventory management and signage requirements.
• Assist with training and onboarding new teammates, as well as cross-training existing staff.
• Coach and develop teammates by explaining the rationale behind tasks and processes.
• Create an inclusive environment where all teammates and customers feel welcome and respected.
• Adhere to safety and loss prevention policies and maintain confidentiality of company information.
• Support the team across the store by taking an all-hands-on-deck approach as needed.

Requirements

• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Prior retail sales or customer-focused experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift items weighing 15 to 35 lbs. repetitively.
• Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
• Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet using ladders or aerial lifting devices.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods of time (up to 2 hours continuously).
