About the position

Customized Energy Solutions (CES) is seeking a Retail Data Analyst to join its Retail Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting the company's Retail Energy practice by providing essential billing support to retail operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in the deregulated retail energy industry, particularly in billing, transaction management, and data validation. Strong SQL skills are a must, as the analyst will be responsible for performing audits and validations on billing systems using Excel and SQL. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining a high level of detail and integrity. In this position, the analyst will leverage their knowledge of the retail deregulated energy industry to build and maintain strong client relationships. Daily interactions with clients will be essential, as the analyst will provide support for software and services related to billing and EDI operations across various regional transmission organizations, including PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, and CAISO. The role will also involve conducting quality audits, exception management, and collaborating with the development team to create and validate new features and reports for the CES|BLUE Platform. The Retail Data Analyst will be responsible for performing data flow validations for commercial product billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client business processes. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think creatively to implement improvements in processes and tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as the analyst will need to liaise with clients for escalations and training, ensuring a seamless experience for all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage Retail deregulated industry knowledge to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Provide support for software and services related to daily billing and EDI operations in various regional transmission organization jurisdictions.
  • Conduct quality audits and exception management for billing processes.
  • Develop business requirements for software and reports in collaboration with the development team.
  • Liaise with clients to address escalations and provide training.
  • Perform validation on data flows for commercial product billing using mathematical and technical skills.
  • Conduct billing system audits using Excel and SQL.
  • Work with operational and technical teams to build additional validation and automation into the billing process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject demonstrating required quantitative and professional skill sets.
  • Three or more years of relevant Retail Billing experience within Bill Ready, Dual Bill, or Supplier Consolidated bill types.
  • Experience with at least one regional transmission organization jurisdiction such as PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, ERCOT, or CAISO.
  • Excellent analytic processing skills and experience with Excel and SQL.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make quick, fact-based decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a deadline-driven, self-managed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively by developing and implementing improvements to processes and tools.
