About the position

The Retail Department Coordinator at TJ Maxx is responsible for promoting an excellent customer experience while overseeing a team of Associates at the front of the store. This role emphasizes customer service, team leadership, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. The Coordinator leads by example, engages with customers, and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures, contributing to the overall growth of the store and the career development of Associates.

Responsibilities

• Promote an excellent customer experience and oversee a team of Associates at the front of the store.
• Engage and interact with customers while maintaining a clean and organized store.
• Train and mentor Associates on front end principles and customer service.
• Assign registers and coordinate breaks for Associates, supporting POS coverage needs.
• Address customer concerns promptly to ensure a positive experience.
• Ensure Associates execute tasks according to store plans and prioritize as needed.
• Communicate effectively with management and Associates regarding priorities and progress updates.
• Provide recognition and constructive feedback to Associates.
• Partner with management on training needs for Associates.
• Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Promote credit and loyalty programs and support shrink reduction goals.
• Maintain a safe environment and promote safety awareness.

Requirements

• 1 year of retail experience
• 6 months of leadership experience
• Strong understanding of merchandising techniques
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and respond to changes in direction or unexpected situations
• Team player who works effectively with peers and supervisors
• Ability to train others
