About the position

The Retail Department Coordinator at TJ Maxx is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards while ensuring efficient processing by Associates. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service, team collaboration, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. The Coordinator will also train and mentor Associates, manage merchandise flow, and uphold company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute receiving and merchandising standards.
  • Ensure Associates are processing efficiently and effectively.
  • Engage and interact with customers to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize merchandise processing onto the sales floor.
  • Train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
  • Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty for efficient goods flow to the sales floor.
  • Monitor team productivity and provide coaching as necessary.
  • Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
  • Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
  • Uphold organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the backroom area.
  • Ensure compliance with recycling and hazardous waste programs.
  • Communicate effectively with management and Associates regarding priorities and progress updates.
  • Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
  • Partner with Management on Associate training needs.
  • Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote credit and loyalty programs.
  • Support store shrink reduction goals and programs.
  • Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.

Requirements

  • 1 year of retail experience.
  • 6 months of leadership experience.
  • Superior communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
  • Team player capable of working effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to train others.
