About the position

The Retail Department Coordinator at Sierra is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards while ensuring efficient processing by Associates. This role emphasizes customer engagement, maintaining store organization, and promoting a positive shopping experience. The Coordinator will also train and mentor team members, manage inventory flow, and uphold company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute receiving and merchandising standards while ensuring efficient processing by Associates.
  • Engage and interact with customers to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
  • Model exceptional customer service and promote a culture of honesty and integrity.
  • Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize merchandise processing onto the sales floor.
  • Train and mentor Associates on established merchandising and processing principles.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
  • Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
  • Monitor team productivity and provide coaching as necessary.
  • Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
  • Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards for the backroom area.
  • Ensure compliance with recycling and hazardous waste programs.
  • Communicate effectively with management and Associates regarding priorities and progress updates.
  • Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
  • Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote credit and loyalty programs and support store shrink reduction goals.
  • Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.

Requirements

  • Under 1 year of experience in retail and 6 months of leadership experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Capability to lift heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to train others.
