About the position

The Retail District Manager at Volcom is responsible for overseeing multiple retail stores within a designated district, ensuring operational excellence, achieving sales goals, and fostering a positive team culture. This role acts as a liaison between corporate and store teams, driving sales through effective communication and best practices. The manager will also focus on talent development, customer service, and maintaining brand standards across all locations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the corporate and store teams, communicating effectively to share best practices.
  • Achieve store and district sales goals and drive sales through targeted and measured activities.
  • Monitor sales and motivate team to hit forecasted goals.
  • Analyze and manage all areas of store operations including payroll and operational expenses.
  • Drive the business forward and ensure consistency in operations throughout the district.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of day-to-day operations while aligning with big-picture goals for the Retail division.
  • Maintain a travel and expense budget in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Travel and coordinate transportation to visit stores on a regular basis.
  • Supervise multiple stores, possibly across multiple states.
  • Merchandise and maintain company standards of all product on the floor.
  • Monitor and control shipment and inventory, including transfers and markdowns.
  • Direct and coordinate proper placement of items on sales floor and back stock once received.
  • Review and track sale records and reports to project sales.
  • Manage your team by guiding, directing, and motivating them.
  • Develop your team by recognizing talented staff and developing them for growth within the company.
  • Maintain regular one-on-one meetings with Store Managers and lead weekly district meetings.
  • Elevate and empower Store Managers and store teams by being a support system and resource of knowledge and best practices.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and address any ongoing performance issues.
  • Partner with HR on employee relations issues, terminations, etc.
  • Responsible for Store Manager hiring and training and supervision of all in-store hiring conducted by the Store Manager.
  • Track store payroll budget, timecards, and scheduling, adjusting schedule according to needs of the business.
  • Uphold and hold team accountable for company policies, procedures, and corporate directives.
  • Facilitate team meetings when needed.
  • Strive to create an environment that embraces and values team building and development.
  • Build a product-knowledge driven sales culture, sharing knowledge of the industry, eco-initiatives, and high-quality products to Store Team and Customers.

  • Cultivate a fun, organized, efficient work environment and lead by example.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in Retail Store Management with proven results.
  • Multi-store management experience preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience hiring, recruiting, and training of retail teams required.
  • Visual merchandising experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal, customer service, reporting and basic math skills.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong ethical behavior.
  • Strong computer and POS system experience.
  • Strong sales knowledge and training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Visual merchandising experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
