About the position

As a Retail District Manager at Dollar General, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the activities of all stores within your assigned area of operation. This position comes with full profit and loss responsibility, and you will be expected to operate within the scope of company objectives and policies to achieve divisional and regional goals. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture that aligns with Dollar General's mission and values, ensuring that each store team is equipped to deliver superior customer service in a fun and friendly environment. You will be responsible for driving annual sales growth that meets or exceeds company targets. This will involve effective planning and execution of company objectives, maximizing performance and productivity through sensible store scheduling, and ensuring that all tools are utilized effectively in each store. Additionally, you will focus on the total development of human capital by proactively recruiting, selecting, and educating employees, while also protecting company assets through loss prevention and expense efficiencies. Your role will also include identifying and developing new business opportunities within your operational area, such as improving distribution flow, enhancing merchandising displays, and strategizing for store growth and real estate site selection. Consistent and effective communication of divisional and regional priorities to store teams will be essential to your success in this position.

Requirements

  • Four+ years of retail management experience with progressively more responsibility, managing multi-unit operations in retail, grocery, or convenience store operations with full P&L responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent education and experience in 'big-box' retail management.
  • Demonstrated results-oriented leadership and ability to model total development.
  • Proven record of achieving performance goals and objectives.
  • Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and manage budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a focus on superior customer service.
