About the position

The Retail Donation Attendant at Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer service to donors and customers at retail locations. This part-time position involves greeting donors, receiving donations, and preparing items for processing in a fast-paced environment. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability on weekends and holidays, to support store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all donors and customers.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting donors and safely unloading donations from vehicles.
  • Complete donor receipts and offer a copy to the donor.
  • Sort donated items into designated categories.
  • Comply with safety and security practices, including reporting hazards and injuries.
  • Maintain a professional appearance adhering to Goodwill uniform standards.
  • Comply with all Ohio Valley Goodwill policies and report any illegal activities.
  • Adhere to the work schedule set by the supervisor.
  • Assist truck drivers and their assistants with loading/unloading donations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of six months of previous work experience or equivalent educational or vocational experience preferred.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers and donors.
  • Ability to understand English and interact with customers and employees.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to be trained and safely use big joe stacker and pallet jack (age 18+).

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to motivate the team.
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Previous pallet packing and forklift experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Multilingual with fluency in English.
