About the position

The Retail Donations Coordinator at Ozarks Food Harvest is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with retail donors to enhance food procurement efforts. This role focuses on increasing retail donations, managing donor accounts, and ensuring efficient food distribution while adhering to food safety guidelines. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact with all retail donors
  • Research potential new food donation sources and maintain a tracking system
  • Cultivate new and existing food donors to maximize donation potential
  • Service approximately 150 retail donor accounts and implement an onsite visitation plan
  • Secure perishable and non-perishable food items from retail stores
  • Create and maintain a contact database for store and management lists
  • Build a strong understanding of each chain's donation program
  • Act as a liaison between retail donors and The Food Bank
  • Develop and maintain a donor recognition program and awards for major food donors
  • Provide information and tours of Ozarks Food Harvest to visitors and donors
  • Attend store meetings and training sessions as permitted
  • Foster relationships between member agencies and retail partners
  • Collaborate with the operations team for efficient transportation and logistics
  • Follow prescribed food safety guidelines throughout the donation/distribution chain
  • Coordinate agency trainings related to food handling and safety
  • Ensure proper reporting is submitted by members on the program
  • Work with the member services team to establish participation for new retail opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of two years' experience in the retail food industry or related nonprofit organization
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of sanitary food safety, storage, and handling guidelines
  • Proven track record of dependability
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20-40 pounds
  • Current, valid Missouri driver's license and proof of insurance
