About the position

The Retail General Manager is responsible for overseeing retail operations for the San Antonio Spurs and Austin Spurs, managing both day-to-day activities and event operations across multiple venues. This role includes P&L responsibility, developing growth strategies, and maintaining client and vendor relationships to ensure the success of the retail program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall retail operations across two arena venues, an e-commerce channel, mobile merchandise truck, and a brick-and-mortar location.
  • Collaborate with clients from multiple levels and departments to ensure brand integrity and development of the retail program.
  • Supervise the management of labor and mentor managers and associates.
  • Oversee and collaborate with the retail management team to develop and execute retail plans.
  • Manage client relations, including product presentation, sales recaps, and future development plans.
  • Support positive vendor relationships and oversee product selection and development from inception to delivery.
  • Utilize reporting tools to review inventory, sales, and status of merchandise categories.
  • Manage and communicate potential discounts, special pricing, inventory concerns, and other business-impacting issues.
  • Work with HR to hire staff and ensure proper staffing for events within payroll budget.
  • Oversee development and training of customer service programs and product knowledge.
  • Recommend methods and resources for service improvement and growth based on operational needs and contractual obligations.
  • Manage a budget in partnership with Finance and assist in designing improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of retail management experience, including client relations and P&L responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, sports management, or related field preferred.
  • Professional sports retail industry experience.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with the Aramark management team and staff.
  • Availability to work a flexible event-based schedule including evening and weekend hours.
  • Availability for occasional travel for offsite events and industry tradeshows.
