About the position

The General Manager at Bass Pro Shops is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring financial efficiency, inventory control, and exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, maintaining merchandising standards, and executing company directives to create a positive shopping experience for customers while meeting financial goals.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the Assistant Store Manager, Human Resources Manager, Loss Prevention Manager, and Promotions Manager.
• Open and close the store.
• Ensure the store is staffed with service-oriented associates and participate in hiring and training processes.
• Support a commitment to world-class customer service and ensure a pleasant shopping experience.
• Meet or exceed all financial plans set by the company.
• Control company assets and financial efficiency through auditing and monitoring procedures.
• Maintain all merchandising directives and marketing strategies in the store.
• Execute all sales and payroll plans as directed by the company.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for associates and customers.
• Resolve customer and associate issues.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years in high volume, big box retail management, with multi-store experience desired.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret financial, legal, and technical information.
• Ability to read and analyze reports and write business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders.
• Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management systems.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
