About the position

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring financial efficiency, inventory control, and exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, maintaining merchandising standards, and executing company directives to create a productive shopping environment.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the Assistant Store Manager, Human Resources Manager, Loss Prevention Manager, and Promotions Manager, and indirectly all other Managers in the Store.
  • Open and close the Store.
  • Ensure the Store is staffed with service-oriented associates; participate in interviewing and selection, coordinate training, and prepare/approve performance appraisals.
  • Support a strong commitment to world-class customer service and ensure a pleasant shopping experience for all customers.
  • Meet or exceed all financial plans set by the Company.
  • Control Company assets and financial efficiency by auditing reports, journals, and physical inventory; monitor and control cash management.
  • Maintain all Merchandising directives from the Corporate Office and execute Marketing & Advertising strategies in the Store.
  • Execute all Sales/PAYROLL plans as directed by the Company.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for all associates and customers.
  • Resolve customer and associate issues.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring & training, and evaluating performance.
  • Provide a legendary experience for every customer by assisting them in making buying decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years in high volume, big box Retail Management, with multi-store experience desired.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret financial, legal, and technical information.
  • Ability to read and analyze reports and write business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public.
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
