About the position

The Key Carrier role at Marshalls is a pivotal position that serves as an elevated extension of the Coordinator role. In this capacity, Key Carriers are expected to alternate their responsibilities based on the store's needs, predominantly performing the duties of a Coordinator while occasionally stepping into a leadership role as a Key Carrier. This role is essential in maintaining all aspects of the store's operations and ensuring a high standard of customer service. Key Carriers must possess open availability, including nights and weekends, to meet the demands of the store and provide exceptional service to customers. Key Carriers are responsible for creating a positive experience for both internal and external customers. They promote a culture of honesty and integrity, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times. Acting as the Manager on Duty, they adhere strictly to company policies and procedures, ensuring that the store team performs tasks in accordance with the store plan and prioritizes activities as needed. They are also tasked with addressing immediate customer service issues and providing appropriate coaching to Associates, exercising discretion regarding customer service policies to ensure customer satisfaction. In addition to these responsibilities, Key Carriers maintain accurate Associate coverage in service areas to enhance the customer experience and ensure that all Associates adhere to operational procedures. They are responsible for executing opening and closing procedures according to company guidelines and communicating effectively with management and Associates to set and address priorities. Providing and accepting recognition and constructive feedback is also a key part of the role, as is partnering with management on Associate training needs to increase overall effectiveness. Key Carriers play a vital role in promoting safety awareness and maintaining a safe environment within the store, while also supporting shrink reduction goals and programs. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the store's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Manager on Duty adhering to company policy and procedure

  • Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates when setting and addressing priorities; provide progress updates
  • Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback
  • Provide feedback, recognition and coaching to Associates
  • Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness
  • Ensure adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
  • Promote credit and loyalty programs
  • Support and participate in shrink reduction goals and programs
  • Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends

  • Knowledge of company standard software, systems, and procedures
  • Knowledge of merchandise flow in stores
  • Proven problem solving skills

  • Able to act quickly under challenging circumstances
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • Superior communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • 1 year retail experience
  • 6 months leadership experience
