About the position

The Retail Manager - Hardlines at Bass Pro Shops is responsible for supervising one or more sales departments within the store, focusing on merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, staff selection and development, and customer service activities. The role emphasizes a commitment to world-class customer service and aims to create a pleasant shopping experience while meeting financial goals set by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise one or more sales departments within the store.
  • Ensure a strong commitment to world-class customer service.
  • Meet or exceed all financial plans set by the company.
  • Execute all sales plans as directed by the company.
  • Open and close the store as required.
  • Obtain 'Manager on Duty' responsibilities.
  • Maintain planograms as set by the corporate office.
  • Staff departments with service-oriented associates and participate in interviewing and selection.
  • Coordinate training and prepare/approve performance appraisals.
  • Recommend merit/promotional increases and prepare weekly work schedules.
  • Coach and motivate associates to promote positive customer relations.
  • Resolve customer and associate issues.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Provide a legendary experience for every customer by assisting in buying decisions and promoting programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in Retail Management with responsibility for one or more sales departments.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of financial, legal, and technical information.
  • Ability to read and analyze reports and write business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, associates, customers, and the public.
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
