About the position

We are seeking a punctual, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited for an opportunity to provide a guest with an experience that is beyond their expectations and excited for the opportunity to create guests for life. The Retail Manager will oversee all aspects of three retail locations at Blue Mountain.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, direct, and monitor daily operating standards for all stores, and retail support areas.
  • Direct and monitor merchandising activities on-site and provide information and feedback to corporate buyers.
  • Drive top-line sales and bottom-line profitability with an emphasis on managing the cost of goods sold/margins.
  • Lead the resort as an expert on retail market trends, customer profiles, and new vendors/products and coordinate with marketing to drive sales.
  • Develop and maintain merchandising plans for stores providing a 'sense of place' for the guests.
  • Manage ski and snowboard demo program to drive winter hard goods sales.
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop top talent dedicated to delivering service excellence and financial results.
  • Manage annual operating budgets - including staff, open-to-buy, and merchandise plans to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory, store hours & payroll.
  • Maintain accurate physical inventory (assets) to maximize sales.
  • Perform quarterly physical inventory stock take.
  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly financial results and take appropriate action based on insights gained from analysis.

Requirements

  • Five years of successful retail leadership experience required; preferred prior multiple unit leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • High level of energy, personal accountability; passion for excellence which drives financial results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Profit and Loss statement proficiency, including general ledger entries, sales, and stock plans.
  • Experience in developing, training, and/or directing the proper merchandising standards for a retail store in an upscale environment.
  • Knowledge in outdoor recreation equipment and apparel, including ski, snowboard, bike, and camping preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with resort logo merchandise and/or ski/snowboard maintenance.
