About the position

The Assistant Director of Dining Services, Retail position at the University of Alaska Fairbanks involves overseeing retail dining operations, including a C-Store and three coffee shops. The role focuses on managing a team, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining operational standards in food service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing retail dining operations at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
• Supervise 10-15 employees in the C-Store and coffee shops.
• Manage inventory and order food supplies.
• Handle scheduling and cash management.
• Ensure guest satisfaction and maintain sanitation standards.
• Assist in other food service departments as needed.
• Work with the Chef and management team to create nutritious food options.
• Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with marketing and culinary teams.
• Maintain excellent relationships with clients.
• Train and develop associates.

Requirements

• 2+ years of food retail experience.
• Experience in cash handling and employee development.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Some supervisory or management experience.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 to 3 years of food service management experience.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, or health care food service operations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Financial experience and business acumen skills.
• Proficient in MS Office products.
