About the position

The Produce Team Leader at Giant Eagle Inc. is responsible for managing the entire Produce Team, ensuring operational performance, and providing guidance on seasonal offerings. This role emphasizes leadership, coaching, and fostering an inclusive environment while maintaining safety and achieving sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, and train Team Members.
  • Direct the work of Team Members.
  • Appraise Team Members' productivity and efficiency for promotions or status changes.
  • Handle Team Member issues, including complaints.
  • Discipline Team Members as necessary.
  • Plan and distribute work among Team Members.
  • Ensure safety and security for Team Members and the store.
  • Manage the budget for the department or location.
  • Oversee inventory management for the department or location.
  • Monitor and implement compliance measures.
  • Evaluate training provided to reduce turnover and promote efficiency.
  • Provide motivational leadership and set an exemplary example.
  • Identify strengths and opportunities within the team.
  • Develop future leaders and nurture an inclusive environment.
  • Inspire the team and guests with a passion for food.
  • Set and reach sales and profit goals while managing shrink.
  • Establish ongoing communication with the team.
  • Communicate with the merchandising team regarding promotions.
  • Make innovative plans to improve business performance.
  • Review and analyze financial and historical reports for performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Retail work experience or Store Leader recommendation.
  • Retail leadership or supervisory experience is desired.
  • Successful performance as a Peer Trainer or similar role.
  • Demonstrated product knowledge relevant to the department.
  • Satisfactory performance and discipline record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
