About the position

The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of a Retail Store, Boutique, or Attended Donation Center (ADC). This role involves leading a team to achieve sales, production, customer service, payroll, safety, and expense control goals while collaborating closely with the Site Manager. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and operational skills to ensure adherence to company standards and to foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manager on duty activities as assigned by Site Manager, including opening and closing the store.
  • Manage operations of a cash register and ensure accurate financial transactions.
  • Train, lead, and encourage Ambassadors to meet goals while maintaining company standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Provide excellent customer service and engage positively with Ambassadors, customers, and donors.
  • Model and communicate Goodwill's Mission and RISE Values to staff and customers.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by maintaining cleanliness and following safety protocols.
  • Coach Ambassadors on de-escalation practices and loss prevention procedures.
  • Identify and communicate operational concerns to the District Manager when necessary.
  • Supervise training, planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work for Ambassadors.
  • Monitor and maintain sales floor, production area, and store equipment to company standards.
  • Train Ambassadors on processing donated goods and eCommerce items to meet business goals.
  • Ensure accurate capture of donor information and proper sorting of goods according to SOPs.
  • Maintain compliance in the backroom regarding safety and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a customer-focused management role.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree is helpful.
  • Ability to multitask projects of varying scope with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in using computers and technology necessary for job functions.
  • Strong communication, training, and people skills.
  • Demonstrated success with process accountability and multitasking.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and maintain punctual attendance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is helpful.
  • Experience in retail operations or non-profit management.
