Responsibilities

  • Engaging peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for customers, including an exceptional checkout experience.
  • Communicating with team members and assigning daily work tasks.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
  • Supporting the training of new team members and cross-training high potential talent.
  • Working with leadership on department scheduling to enhance team member engagement and improve customer service.
  • Ensuring product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
  • Guiding the team in compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
  • Leading team members in ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display tasks.
  • Creating an environment that supports Meijer culture, including valuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Operating a register and handling cash when needed.
  • Participating in period end inventories to help achieve goals.

Requirements

  • Passion for customer service with total engagement that conveys approachability to customers and fellow team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Retail or other customer service experience preferred.
  • Creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to influence others and build rapport quickly with customers.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling products.
