About the position

The Retail Pharmacy Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in the effective functioning of the retail pharmacy by fulfilling the duties of a certified pharmacy technician while also coordinating various business, technical, financial, clerical, and pharmacy support needs. This position works closely with the Pharmacist in Charge and the System Director of Pharmacy to ensure seamless collaboration with other departments within EMH, including marketing, facilities/housekeeping, accounts payable, revenue cycle, human resources, and planning and development for service line and the 340B program. In addition to these responsibilities, the Retail Pharmacy Operations Coordinator provides day-to-day supervision of pharmacy technicians, manages inventory, prepares invoices for accounts payable and external customers, handles internal account billing, and maintains both pharmacy and point of sale software. The role also encompasses supervising and managing all pharmacy retail practice activities, which include associate health and training, scheduling, patient throughput, prescription delivery, billing coordination, and reconciliation of reimbursements. The coordinator is expected to interact frequently with associates, physicians, business partners, patients, and other departments, ensuring service excellence and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization. Responsibilities

  • Fulfill duties of certified pharmacy technician.
  • Coordinate business, technical, financial, clerical, and pharmacy support needs of the retail pharmacy.
  • Work with the Pharmacist in Charge and System Director of Pharmacy to coordinate with other EMH departments.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and manage day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee inventory management and prepare invoices for accounts payable and external customers.
  • Handle internal account billing and maintain pharmacy software and point of sale systems.
  • Manage pharmacy retail practice activities including associate health and training, scheduling, and patient throughput.
  • Coordinate billing and reconciliation of reimbursements.
  • Interact with associates, physicians, business partners, patients, and other departments to ensure service excellence.

Requirements

  • High school degree plus 5 years of retail pharmacy experience with 2 years of supervisory experience, OR
  • Associates Degree plus 3 years of pharmacy or ambulatory healthcare management experience with 1 year of supervisory experience, OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business/Healthcare Administration (preferred) with 2 years of pharmacy or ambulatory healthcare experience and minimum of 1 year supervisory pharmacy experience (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years pharmacy technician experience with 1 year in a supervisory pharmacy role in a pharmacy environment.
  • KY registration as a pharmacy technician is required.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required.
  • Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician credential is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • 340B University completion is preferred.
