About the position

The Retail Pharmacy Technician position at St. Luke's Advocate Aurora Health is a full-time role focused on developing competence in the dispensing and delivery of medications. The technician will be responsible for utilizing information systems, technology, and automation for the dispensing and storage of medications. This role requires the preparation of non-sterile products in accordance with USP, state, and federal recommendations. The technician will also be tasked with entering medication orders into the computer system and processing medication requests efficiently. In addition to technical skills, the pharmacy technician will manage phone calls from customers and team members, including nurses, physicians, and patients. This involves accurately understanding and interpreting issues, providing timely resolutions, or appropriately handing off concerns to other team members. Compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards is crucial, including adherence to controlled substance procedures and documentation requirements. The position requires licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student in Wisconsin, along with certification from PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire. Patient-facing technicians may need additional certifications for immunization and non-vaccine injectables. The role is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented, possess good communication skills, and have a foundational understanding of mathematics and computer operations.
