About the position

The Retail Relationship Banker is responsible for delivering exceptional service to customers and prospects at BMO, identifying their financial needs, and providing tailored advice and solutions. This role involves engaging with customers to assess their needs, recommending banking products, and supporting transactions while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The banker will also work collaboratively within the branch and with partners to enhance the customer experience and achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects.
  • Identify customer needs and provide advice on financial solutions.
  • Engage with existing customers and prospects to grow loyalty and identify opportunities.
  • Complete needs assessments to recommend tailored banking solutions.
  • Support customer transactions based on traffic and needs.
  • Generate appointments and build new relationships within the community.
  • Address questions and resolve issues related to consumer credit audits.
  • Apply risk management frameworks to protect the Bank's assets.
  • Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions.
  • Collaborate with branch and market teams to enhance customer experience.
  • Integrate marketing promotions into customer conversations.
  • Contribute to the overall improvement of the branch customer experience.

Requirements

  • Typically 2 - 3 years of relevant experience in financial services.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of personal and small business customer needs.
  • Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role.
  • Confident in using social media and digital tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Aptitude for listening, problem-solving, and responding creatively to challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial services is an asset.
  • Registration to sell investment products as appropriate for the jurisdiction.
