About the position

The Retail Rock Climbing Associate at Public Lands is responsible for engaging and educating both teammates and customers in all aspects of climbing. This role involves monitoring climbing activities, providing assistance to climbers, and overseeing daily operations within the climbing department. The associate will ensure high levels of customer service, instruct climbing techniques, and maintain safety standards while creating an inclusive environment for all.

Responsibilities

• Drive engagement, training, and educational programs for teammates and customers in climbing.
• Monitor climbing activities and provide assistance to climbers.
• Direct workflow and oversee daily operations of the climbing department under the direction of the Lead and Assistant Store Manager.
• Ensure the highest level of customer service within the department.
• Provide consultative advice and demonstrate excellent product knowledge to customers.
• Instruct climbing techniques for explorers of all ages and experience levels.
• Teach instructional lessons as needed or requested.
• Uphold company standards for merchandise presentation and maintain established floor sets.
• Assist Climbing lead with team-building events at the rock wall.
• Identify and correct safety concerns with the rock wall and climbing equipment.
• Adhere to safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures.
• Create an inclusive store environment for teammates and customers.
• Support the team across the store as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Prior retail experience preferred.
• Climbing certification required.
