About the position

The Retail Sales Associate position at Talbots is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service and promoting the brand's products. The associate will engage with customers, assist in building store business, and support operational excellence while fostering a positive work environment. This role requires a passion for fashion, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional and meaningful customer service experience that promotes the product and builds brand relationships.
  • Assist the management team in building store business.
  • Support all service enhancers to build strong relationships, including active use of Concierge.
  • Service multiple customers at a time, multi-task, and handle projects simultaneously.
  • Stay informed about fashion trends and new arrivals, including product knowledge about fit, color, and fashion.
  • Use product knowledge and fashion expertise to create outfits for customers and suggest items to match their needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships that support a productive work environment.
  • Proactively communicate store information, brand initiatives, discrepancies, and other pertinent information to management.
  • Maximize individual performance by participating in learning opportunities and accepting direction, coaching, and feedback.
  • Achieve sales and service metrics in key measurable areas including Clientelling/Outreach, Appointment Setting, and Talbots Classic Awards.
  • Support all areas of operational excellence, including managing inventory according to policies and procedures.
  • Lead/supervise others on occasion and open/close the store for business.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet the needs of the customer and business.

Requirements

  • Strong ambition and passion for achieving goals, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a high level of integrity.
  • Technological competency to navigate a computer/iPad/handheld system.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, moving around regularly, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stretch for product, and lift, carry, and move at least 40 lbs.
  • Open availability of 15 to 20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
