About the position

The Retail Sales Associate at Talbots is a part-time position focused on delivering exceptional customer service and promoting the brand's products. The role emphasizes building relationships with customers, achieving sales goals, and supporting the management team in store operations. Associates are expected to create a positive shopping experience while maintaining a strong knowledge of fashion trends and product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional and meaningful customer service experience that promotes the product and builds brand relationships.
  • Assist the management team in building store business.
  • Support all service enhancers to build strong relationships including active use of Concierge.
  • Service multiple customers at a time, multi-task and/or handle projects simultaneously.
  • Stay informed about fashion trends and new arrivals, including product knowledge about fit, color, and fashion.
  • Use product knowledge and fashion expertise to create outfits for customers and suggest items to match their needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships that support a productive work environment.
  • Proactively communicate store information, brand initiatives, discrepancies, and other pertinent information to management.
  • Maximize individual performance by participating in learning opportunities, accepting direction, coaching, and feedback.
  • Achieve sales and service metrics in key measurable areas including: Clientelling/Outreach, Appointment Setting, and Talbots Classic Awards.
  • Support all areas of operational excellence, including managing inventory according to policies and procedures.
  • Lead/supervise others on occasion and open/close the store for business.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet the needs of the customer and business.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate selling competence and styling expertise with a love of fashion.
  • Strong ambition and passion for achieving goals, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a high level of integrity.
  • Technological competency to navigate a computer/iPad/handheld system.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, moving around regularly, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stretch for product, and lift, carry, and move at least 40 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule availability of 15 to 20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
