About the position
The Retail Sales Associate at Scheels All Sports is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in the sporting goods industry. This part-time position involves engaging with customers, promoting products, and achieving sales goals while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. Associates will receive extensive training to become knowledgeable about the products and services offered, ensuring they can assist customers effectively and enhance their shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet all customers on the sales floor with courtesy and a smile
- Grow personal sales by hitting minimum goals and following Scheels professional salesmanship standards
- Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and explain all benefits
- Engage in conversation with customers and assist them in making buying decisions
- Demonstrate a passion for products in the store
- Attend all Scheels product training and store meetings
- Maintain a professional appearance on the sales floor
- Assist in all other assigned duties
- Perform basic math; compute rate, ratio and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Demonstrate strong communication, organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Help with freight/stocking when needed
- Demonstrate product usage and retrieve product from heights of greater than 6 ft
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 months of sales experience
- Strong oral/written communication and reading skills
- Ability to perform basic math
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation
- Demonstrates strong communication, organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
