About the position

The Retail Sales Lead for Team Sports at DICK'S Sporting Goods plays a crucial role in executing brand standards and enhancing the teammate experience. This position involves leading by example, providing exceptional customer service, and guiding teammates in their roles. The Lead is responsible for building a strong team culture, planning and organizing store operations, and ensuring compliance with merchandising standards. They also focus on coaching and developing team members while fostering an inclusive environment for both teammates and customers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service and support the execution of brand standards.
• Provide direction and guidance to teammates in the store.
• Assist in building and hiring a strong team by participating in interviews and department tours.
• Create a people-first culture by connecting with every teammate to build trust and respect.
• Plan and organize store operations 30 days in advance with the Assistant Store Manager.
• Leverage teammates to meet brand standards and execute daily tasks effectively.
• Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards, including floor sets and inventory management.
• Assist store leadership with general supervision and adherence to company policies.
• Train teammates on company procedures and onboarding new hires.
• Prioritize coaching and development of oneself and others, teaching the rationale behind tasks and processes.
• Lead by example to align team responsibilities with organizational goals and enhance the shopping experience.
• Foster an inclusive environment where all teammates and customers feel welcome and respected.
• Adhere to safety and loss prevention policies and maintain confidentiality of company information.
• Support the team across the store with a collaborative approach.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Prior retail sales or customer-focused experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift items weighing 15 to 35 lbs repetitively.
• Ability to work extended periods standing or walking (up to 4 hours).
• Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet using ladders or aerial devices.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods (up to 2 hours continuously).
