About the position

The Retail Sales Manager for the West region at USG is responsible for leading a team of sales professionals focused on major home center customers, including Home Depot, Lowe's, and Menards. This role involves driving sales of USG's products, enhancing visibility with store management, and executing retail initiatives. The position offers an opportunity to gain people management experience while contributing to the growth of the National Accounts Team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the assigned Retail Sales team within the Region to ensure consistent quality and service to the home center customer base.
  • Direct the team's effectiveness in organizing and executing product demonstrations for new and existing products for home center employees and end-users.
  • Travel quarterly with assigned individuals on the sales team.
  • Manage big box customer account projects such as pro-desk and disaster response.
  • Facilitate negotiations with store management for optimal product placement.
  • Monitor and evaluate inventory levels of stores within the region using reporting tools.
  • Meet regularly with store, District, and Regional Managers to discuss USG initiatives and market conditions.
  • Evaluate competitive situations in the region and develop action plans for the sales team.
  • Lead team calls to ensure optimal positioning and growth within assigned markets.
  • Collaborate with internal experts on escalated customer requests.
  • Attend and contribute to regular meetings related to customer service, marketing, and supply chain/logistics.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including monthly reports and regional projects.

Requirements

  • Significant knowledge of USG's product portfolio including wallboard, joint treatment, ceilings, and backerboards.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and make informed recommendations related to customers and products.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and Salesforce.
  • Focus on continuous learning to drive individual and team performance.
  • Analytical skills to assess trends in the business and identify improvement methods.
  • Proven sales professional with a track record of success.
  • Ability to build relationships and network effectively.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with various stakeholders.
  • Strong coaching, management, and leadership skills to develop a team of entry-level sales professionals.
  • Excellent customer service and project management skills.
