About the position

Come join Children’s Fairyland as our Retail Sales Manager to support our Gift Shop in continuing to create an inclusive community oasis where the magic, joy and transformative power of stories and play are unlocked for generations of children and families. Our 72-year-young local institution is seeking an energetic candidate who can work collaboratively with our Operations Team to ensure our ambitious strategic plan goals can be achieved! The Retail Sales Manager supervises all aspects of daily Gift Shop operations including; staffing, purchase orders, merchandising, and web orders all while providing exceptional customer service. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Retail Sales Manager collaborates on annual budgeting and strategizing on new product acquisitions to drive sales and increase engagement with Fairyland visitors. In addition, this role will be responsible for leading regular inventory efforts and developing operational procedures to make the Gift Shop as functional and beautiful as possible!

Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of daily Gift Shop operations including staffing, purchase orders, merchandising, and web orders.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Collaborate on annual budgeting and strategizing on new product acquisitions.
• Drive sales and increase engagement with Fairyland visitors.
• Lead regular inventory efforts.
• Develop operational procedures for the Gift Shop.

Requirements

• At least two (2) years’ experience managing at least two (2) direct reports in a retail setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent sales and customer service skills, with proven negotiation skills.
• Excellent math skills to draft and implement budgets and conduct data analysis.
• Ability to quickly build thorough understanding of Fairyland’s products and/or services, and those of immediate competitors.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace Suite.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
• Hands-on merchandising experience.
• Ability to hire, train, motivate and communicate effectively with staff.
• Ability to problem solve quickly and appropriately.
• Knowledge of and working experience with Point-of-Sale systems, preferably Shopify.
• Experience with data management on e-commerce platforms.
• Ability to collaborate with others in a team environment.
• Possess a clear background history with no barriers to working with children.
• Possess current valid California Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Specialty or boutique retail experience.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Bilingual; Spanish or Cantonese greatly desired.
