About the position

The Retail Sr. Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot plays a crucial role in the store's leadership team, focusing on driving sales and service growth. This position is responsible for achieving sales goals, leading training initiatives, and fostering a customer-centric environment. The Sr. Assistant Store Manager also oversees store operations, visual merchandising, and client satisfaction, while acting as a key carrier and leader on duty in the absence of other management. The ideal candidate is passionate about sales, operational excellence, and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, guidance, and ongoing training to store associates.
  • Facilitate training sessions on the business model and holistic service offerings.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency.
  • Support hiring and staffing the store location in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Lead the team in driving memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction.
  • Execute Office Depot's selling techniques and sales training across the store personnel.
  • Foster a sales-focused environment by owning sales and services results.
  • Ensure the team processes merchandise accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste.
  • Ensure regular loss prevention compliance as a leader in the store.
  • Assist the General Manager with performance management and coaching associates.
  • Maintain safety and security of the building and associates during absence of other managers.
  • Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including cash handling and daily store balancing.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in retail, including management or supervisory roles.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use technology for job completion.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and manage others in a professional environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and achieve goals despite stress.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sales experience in a services industry is a plus.
