About the position

The Retail Sr. Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot plays a crucial role in the store's leadership team, focusing on driving sales and service growth. This position is responsible for achieving sales goals, leading training initiatives, and fostering a customer-centric environment. The Sr. Assistant Store Manager also oversees visual merchandising, freight/logistics activities, and ensures client satisfaction while assisting with store operations and cash handling. The role requires flexibility in scheduling and includes responsibilities as a Key Carrier, acting as the Leader on Duty when other management is absent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, guidance, and ongoing training to store associates to meet sales and services goals.
  • Facilitate training sessions on the business model and holistic service offerings for clients/customers.
  • Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
  • Support hiring and staffing the store location in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Lead the team in driving memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction as a member of the management team.
  • Execute Office Depot's selling techniques and sales training across store personnel.
  • Foster a sales-focused environment by owning sales and services results.
  • Ensure the team processes merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures and visual merchandising standards.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's preferred in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a related field, with at least two years in retail management or supervisory roles in a sales-driven, customer-oriented company.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use technology for job-related tasks.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to positively influence, coach, motivate, and manage conflict.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sales experience in a services industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment and achieve goals despite stress and ambiguity.
