About the position

The Retail Store Environment Team Member at Michaels is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the store, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers. This role involves various cleaning tasks, customer service interactions, and supporting store operations to uphold the brand's standards and promises.

Responsibilities

• Maintain store cleanliness and recovery standards.
• Deliver friendly customer service and assist customers in finding products.
• Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures.
• Dust and damp mop floors according to guidelines.
• Move equipment and products for proper cleaning and return them to their correct placement.
• Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment.
• Mix water and detergents to prepare cleaning solutions as needed.
• Deep clean key areas of the store, including bathrooms and breakrooms.
• Keep cleaning equipment organized and notify supervisors of supply needs.
• Seek out areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks.
• Complete all tasks assigned by the supervisor.
• Perform tasks in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
• Maintain positive interactions with team members and customers.
• Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other team members.
• Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience and execute cash handling to standards.
• Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards.
• Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS).
• Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
• Support shrink and safety programs.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.

Requirements

• Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to move throughout the store.
• Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
