About the position

The Retail Store Event Coordinator at Michaels is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children's birthday parties, within the store. This role aims to create a fun and engaging experience for guests while ensuring excellent customer service and operational efficiency. The coordinator will manage multiple events simultaneously, interact with clients of all ages, and uphold the company's standards for cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events including kids' birthday parties.
  • Deliver friendly customer service and assist customers in finding products.
  • Ensure a fast and friendly checkout experience for all customers.
  • Complete operational tasks such as truck unload and merchandise duties.
  • Engage with clients of all ages and create an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities.
  • Facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards.
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails and making phone calls.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events and uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes.
  • Support shrink and safety programs and adhere to company policies.

Requirements

  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills.
  • Experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in event planning or coordination.
  • Knowledge of craft projects and activities for children.
