About the position

The Retail Store General Manager at TravelCenters of America is responsible for leading the operations and marketing functions of the Travel Store/Convenience Store. This role involves staffing, training, and developing team members while ensuring profitability and excellent customer service. The General Manager is expected to create a positive work environment, manage financial objectives, and maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations and marketing functions of the Travel Store/Convenience Store.
• Inspire and motivate the team to meet and exceed company performance standards.
• Recruit, hire, train, and retain high-quality team members.
• Respond to customer concerns and creatively solve problems.
• Achieve financial objectives through effective management of people, product, service, and facility processes.
• Oversee payroll, accounting, inventory, and personnel documentation procedures.
• Adhere to safety standards and follow company guidelines on vendor relationships.
• Stay informed about competitive practices and provide insights to leadership.
• Assume duties of any hourly associate position as necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in convenience store, truck service, travel center, or related business activity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational understanding of POS software.
• Strong planning and analytical skills, including understanding P&L calculations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
