About the position

The Retail Store Manager at Urbana is responsible for leading the team at one of California's fastest growing cannabis dispensaries. This role focuses on creating exceptional customer experiences, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. The manager will work closely with the General Manager to achieve business objectives while fostering a positive and engaging work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create a hospitable environment for customers to enjoy and learn about cannabis products.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided by a well-trained and happy team.
  • Oversee merchandising, branding, and promotions to enhance customer experience.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and customers to drive sales and provide excellent service.
  • Educate staff and customers on cannabis strains, cannabinoids, uses, and consumption methods.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and municipal compliance and regulations.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the store.
  • Set a positive example for the team during high volume or stressful situations.
  • Maintain open communication with management and retail staff.
  • Possess a store keeper mentality and take ownership of all aspects of the store.
  • Motivate and inspire the team through consistent communication.

Requirements

  • Cannabis industry experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in cannabis and retail, hospitality, or customer service.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bay area resident preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Willingness to work long days and weekends with a flexible schedule.
  • Experience with POS systems, preferably LeafLogix.
  • Familiarity with METRC compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel, Google Drive, and scheduling/hiring platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a retail cannabis environment is preferred.
