About the position

Vance Outdoors is seeking a Store Manager to oversee the efficient operation of all departments and services within the store. This role involves promoting a positive culture, supervising employees, managing store operations, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Store Manager will be responsible for various tasks including opening and closing the store, responding to security issues, scheduling community activities, and facilitating product movement. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive culture within the store.
  • Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales and services.
  • Open and close the store.
  • Respond to security issues during and after business hours.
  • Cover for other managers/buyers in their absence.
  • Ensure all shifts have coverage and scheduling.
  • Act as a public relations representative.
  • Set up or schedule community activities at the store.
  • Interview for positions when needed.
  • Provide customer service regarding cashier, customer, and employee issues.
  • Work with department heads to ensure smooth operations.
  • Facilitate product movement from receiving to merchandising.
  • Oversee transfer of merchandise between stores.
  • Check/enter and approve employees’ time.
  • Deal with any problems or issues that may arise.
  • Make known any maintenance repairs needed.
  • Facilitate efficient use of staff.
  • Help in departments as needed.
  • Assist customers with their shopping needs.
  • Operate forklift as needed.
  • Enforce safety, health, and security rules.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate or 4-year degree; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of Internet Software, POS System, and Microsoft Office Suite.
