About the position

The Retail Store Manager at 5.11 Tactical is responsible for managing and growing the retail store in Virginia Beach, VA. This role focuses on delivering an exceptional brand experience, building customer relationships, leading the sales team, and achieving store sales goals. The manager will oversee financial accountability, ensure adherence to brand standards, and create a customer-centric environment while driving sales and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee plans, budgets, and variable costs for the store to maximize profitability.
  • Accurate recording of sales figures and performing cash operational functions.
  • Direct and model 5.11's Values, Mission, and Service standards to provide an elevated customer experience.
  • Coordinate merchandising updates with the merchandising team and develop long-term strategies.
  • Lead and delegate merchandise processing, replenishment, and recovery of sales floor to brand standards.
  • Ensure team training in appropriate fitting techniques and execute fittings accurately.
  • Oversee alterations and embellishments according to department specifications.
  • Direct and model an efficient cash-wrap experience.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional store environment through housekeeping duties.
  • Monitor and follow up on sales goals, plans, and budgets to optimize profit.
  • Execute reductions, price changes, and transfers as needed.
  • Unload delivery trucks, receive, open, and unpack merchandise, and label with security tags.
  • Follow safety and security routines to prevent loss and ensure safety for employees and customers.
  • Utilize all company systems in the store effectively.
  • Create an environment focused on customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Model selling behaviors to build customer relationships and brand loyalty.
  • Develop relationships with local public safety organizations.
  • Direct the Uniform Services department to meet service level commitments.
  • Accountable for total store and individual sales goals.
  • Attract, recruit, hire, and train high-caliber team members.
  • Assess team performance and provide feedback.
  • Ensure a positive team environment and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Write and flex the store labor schedule.
  • Manage store controllable expenses and protect store assets through loss prevention practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree and/or 3-5 years of retail experience, preferably in apparel.
  • 2+ years of retail store management experience required.
  • Proven ability to provide a superior customer experience and drive customer loyalty.
  • Proven ability to assess talent and manage performance effectively.
  • Strong business acumen with strategic and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of an organization.
  • Schedule flexibility to include evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to stand, lift, walk, and reach overhead regularly; must occasionally lift/move up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to use a POS system.
